Working with Cardiff University on cutting edge research exploring how the pollination of certain plants could lead to the development of drugs to treat serious medical conditions now resistant to traditional antibiotics – otherwise known as ‘superbugs’.
Creating a bee friendly city
Numerous bee hives have been placed around Cardiff University. Specific plants have also been embedded throughout the campus grounds to encourage the production of super-honey and aid the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences‘ superbug research.
Research
The Pharmabees project originated from a collaboration with the National Botanic Garden of Wales to identify plant-derived drugs which could be used to treat antibiotic resistant hospital pathogens.
