Our Health Meadow at University Hospital Llandough has been making progress thanks to the recruitment of volunteer groups at Down to Earth. Together they’ve built momentum and developed the project quickly and successfully, providing volunteers with an opportunity to engage with practical, enjoyable outdoor activities.

Here’s what they’ve been up to:

Helping with the move to the meadow by creating fencing around the heritage oak at the top of the site. The team have been using sweet chestnut cleft fencing to protect the tree and create a secluded spot for people to sit as the weather starts to improve.

Creating benches for around the site, complete with animal and bird designs burnt into the seats, to provide a comfortable space for people to enjoy.

Producing three-legged stools from ash logs, which the team felled, with the help of the stroke group at CRNS and the CBIT brain injury groups. The addition of the three-legged stools at the meadow has been great, especially with some being used around the fire pits!

A local farmer has helped with the maintenance of the meadow, which will encourage wild flowers through the spring, summer, and autumn, bringing lots of biodiversity on site.

Down to Earth are running volunteer days on the first and third Friday of each month. This is a great opportunity to get involved and make a difference.

If you are over 16, love meeting and talking to new people and are looking to improve your health and wellbeing, then why not get in touch?

Datblygu ein dôl

Mae Ein Dôl Iechyd yn Ysbyty Athrofaol Llandochau wedi bod yn datblygu’n dda yn sgil recriwtio grwpiau gwirfoddol yn Down to Earth. Gyda’i gilydd maen nhw wedi gwneud cynnydd ac wedi datblygu’r prosiect yn gyflym ac yn llwyddiannus, gan roi cyfle i wirfoddolwyr ymwneud â gweithgareddau awyr agored ymarferol, pleserus.

Dyma beth maen nhw wedi bod yn ei wneud:

Helpu gyda’r broses o symud i’r ddôl trwy greu ffens o amgylch yr hen dderwen ar ben uchaf y safle. Mae’r tîm wedi bod yn defnyddio ffensys hollt castan i amddiffyn y goeden a chreu man tawel i bobl eistedd wrth i’r tywydd ddechrau gwella.

Creu meinciau ar gyfer y safle, gyda darluniau anifeiliaid ac adar wedi’u cynnwys yn y seddi, i ddarparu gofod cyfforddus i bobl ei fwynhau.

Cynhyrchu stolion tair coes o foncyffion ynn, a dorrwyd gan y tîm, gyda chymorth y grŵp strôc yn CRNS a grwpiau anafiadau i’r ymennydd CBIT. Mae ychwanegu’r stolion tair coes ar y ddôl wedi bod yn wych, yn enwedig gyda rhai’n cael eu defnyddio o amgylch y pyllau tân!

Mae ffermwr lleol wedi helpu i gynnal a chadw’r ddôl, a fydd yn annog blodau gwyllt drwy’r gwanwyn, yr haf a’r hydref, gan ddod â llawer o fioamrywiaeth i’r safle.

Mae Down to Earth yn cynnal diwrnodau gwirfoddolwyr ar y dydd Gwener cyntaf a’r trydydd dydd Gwener o bob mis. Mae hwn yn gyfle gwych i gymryd rhan a gwneud gwahaniaeth.

Os ydych chi dros 16 oed, wrth eich bodd yn cyfarfod a siarad â phobl newydd ac yn edrych i wella eich iechyd a lles, yna beth am gysylltu â ni? I gael rhagor o wybodaeth am sut i gymryd rhan, cysylltwch â barney@downtoearthproject.org.uk neu ffoniwch 01792 232439 neu ewch i www.fitforthefuture.uk
